To say I'm in the holiday spirit is an understatement. I actually think I have a problem. I don't know what it is - it's like I'm a completely different person. I have never been so into the holidays, or even more, into decorating my dwellings accordingly. I used to laugh at people like this, and now I'm turning into one of them. You know that crazy mom in the Black Friday Target commercials? That's me. I'm guessing that it's because this is my first Christmas in my first place, but it might also be a sign that Betty Crocker is starting to rub off on me...
Anyway, when I heard about the Minneapolis tradition of Holidazzle I knew that this was the perfect excuse, I mean opportunity, to dec out the apartment and go overboard with the Christmas spirit. Several guests brought a dish, so I didn't make everything on my own - but I did make Stuffed Biscuits, Mini-Pizzas, Chocolate Pastries, Cookie-Dough Truffles, and a variety of Christmas cookies!
Stuffed Biscuits
Ingredients
2 Cans of Pillsbury Grands Biscuits
2 Cups Shredded Cheese (I used Cheddar)
1 1/2 Cups Finely Chopped Cooked Ham
2 Tablespoons Honey Mustard
1 Egg Beaten
Sesame Seeds
Red and Green Peppers (optional - I ended up using these for something else)
Directions:
This dish is so easy, that is should definitely be put into your party rotation. First just take out one can of the biscuits (there should be 10 in the can). Cut each biscuit in half and press them so they expand to 3-inch circles. Meanwhile, take the cheese, ham, and honey mustard and mix in a large bowl.
Take one tablespoon of the mixture and place in the center of the biscuit. Pull the edges all-around and smooth together. Place the seam side down on a greased cooking sheet. Repeat this for both cans, then use an egg wash on top and add sesame seeds.
Cook in the oven as directed in the can, or until golden brown.
Chocolate Crescents
This dish is even easier than the biscuits - 3 ingredients. It doesn't get much easier than that.
Ingredients
2 Cans Pillsbury Crescents
1 Bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
Powder Sugar
Directions
Take the can of crescents and separate into triangles. Take 1-2 tablespoons of the chocolate chips and spread across. Then, just roll up the crescent and place on a greased cookie sheet.
Cook as directed on the can, and then top with powder sugar.
For the rest of the dishes I prepared, I went the easy route and used cooking mixes, so not much to share. I also made my previously blogged Mini-Pizzas and Cookie Dough Truffles.
Overall, this spread was a huge success! It was easy to make, and could serve a large group (I had about 20 people!). Of course, I can't forget that my friends brought awesome dishes too!
Hope these turn out great for you - happy Holidays! Until next time, happy cooking!
