Pizzagna

Hey there! It's been a while since we've last spoke - sorry about that. I've made some great dishes too, but I just haven't been in the mood to write. I didn't want to half a** a post, so I waited until I thought I could do a sub-par job (as per usual :)).

With this dish I wanted to show that you can take one recipe, and change it up a bit, to make a completely different dish. This dish is channeling off of my very first post Mini-Deep Dish Pizza. It takes some of the very basic ingredients, and just re-purposes them to make a whole new meal. I might even say that I like this one better. It's easy, delicious, and an easy way to "wow" your friends and family. Also, since you're making individual "pizzagnas", you can customize it to your guests' tastes.

Recipe:
1 box Puff Pastry Sheets
1 jar favorite pizza sauce (recommend the Classico Line)
1 block shredded Mozzarella Cheese
1 Block Cheddar Cheese
Pepperoni (if desired)
Green Pepper (if desired)

Directions:
Like I said, this is SUPER easy. Simply take the puff pastry sheet and let it thaw for a few minutes. After, lay them on a greased cookie sheet and cut into desired sizes. I cut the sheet into three long pieces, and then cut three pieces out of each of those (making 9 total from one sheet). After the oven is heated at 350 degrees, put the puff pastry in for about 10 minutes. While these are beginning to bake, you can begin to gather and cut your toppings and cheese.

After the 10 minutes is up, take out the puff pastry. They won't be completely cooked, but they should be turning a golden brown. I made three layers to each Pizzagna, so I took one piece of the puff pastry, and added the sauce, toppings, and cheese to each layer (you could easily have more or less). When you're done, put them back in the oven for another 10 minutes.

As you can see, this dish was really simple. It takes about 30 minutes in total, and most of that time is baking. Pizzagnas are the perfect example of taking a great recipe and changing it up a bit, to add another great meal to your rotation. It's perfect with a little salad (as you can see :)).

Until next time...happy cooking!!
